The Brinks
I was so touched, thrilled, happy, and speechless when I received an e-mail from a fellow holiday maker from our honeymoon in Maldives (so sweet!). It has been almost 1 year since our honeymoon. My my… how time flies!!
We met them during our second last day at the resort and well, four of us hit it off like fire!! We got along so well that our last days together we had our lunch and dinners together… we partied together and basically shared a lot of interesting conversations. Who would have known 2 Malaysians and 2 South Africans have in common?
It is good to know that they are pregnant and will be expecting a baby girl in 3 months time… felt a warm buzzing feeling…he he he she will be so beautiful like her mother!!

His Version Of Transformers
You see… hubs like to tease my MIL… just because he can do it and get away with it, and my MIL, well she is naïve and ignorant to things outside her little world.
Hubs: Mother, please don’t throw away my old robot.
MIL: Why?
Hubs: Cause it is worth thousands now!!!
MIL: OOHhhhhh OK…OK… (proceed to find the toy and clean it up and store it properly. Most probably calling all the aunties and telling them bout the “antique robot”)
*slap head*
Dry Chicken Anyone?
I have not been posting my cooking for some time now… cause sometimes I feel that my gastronomic creation is not good enough…but then again who cares? It’s me right? Ha ha ha…
Last night’s dinner… Grilled Herb Chicken with Buttered Veggies. Verdict? Chicken was a wee bit dry… I think I overcooked it in the over… but the veggies was heavenly… I think must be all the butter and salt.

To The Gym We Go...la...la...la
I don’t remember if I did mention that about urmm…a month ago or maybe two months ago, I dragged hubs to buy a pair of sports/running/gym shoes. So until yesterday, we have never worn our shoes… yes till yesterday…because yesterday for the very first time… we went to the gym!!! YES two fat blobs finally went to the gym.
Ladiladila… I did a bit of cardio…trying to get my heart rate up to burn my fats… I think I did well… I told myself I have to go to the gym at least 3 times a week… (hah!!!) SO after a lot of sweat from the cardio workout… I wanted to try out the weight machines… but ha ha ha… I was so “pai seh” (shy) to stand in front of the machine and read the pictorial instructions like a total dweeb…so I gave it a miss.
Hubs on the other hand was trying to be macho and all… did all the workout… and this morning, he told me don’t mess with him, he will bash me up cause he got muscles now…ha ha ha… I told him, he can try to bash me up after six months of intensive training at the gym… if not…I will BASH him up instead. MEN!!!

The Banning Of The Soya Sauce
Ever since I was in uni, (that is when I started cooking), I always cook everything with “kicap” (soya sauce), a dash here, a dash there… I put it into everything, from stir fry to marinades and as dips. It was one of the easiest ingredients to use and find.
Today, I still use it and I have no idea why I use it so much now and I did not realize that I put it in everything!! Not until hubs told me. *shy* He told me that all my Chinese dishes all taste the same, they all taste like soya sauce… *oohh shy*.
So… last night, with very strong determination, I banned soya sauce from my cooking… I did very very well…very surprised actually. Last night’s menu was Stir Fry Beef and Shitake Mushroom with Black Bean Sauce, Chicken Soup and Stir Fry French Beans with Shrimps *clap* *clap* *clap*. Hubs was surprised also… polished off his plate. Good Boy!

Bunny and Olly
Recently, hubs and I have move on from calling each other “Bee” as for Baby to other names…
Hubs to Me:
Hon– short for Honey, I realize he only calls me that in public when he is all lovey dovey. Still not used to it… so American!!
Bunny- dunno why he calls me that, I don’t hop like a bunny, I don’t have bunny teeth, we don’t hump like bunnies, maybe I am cute? Ewww…
Eh/ Wei – when he is annoyed with me, or when he is playing his PS3 and need his soya bean milk and peanuts or when he is in his macho mode. Really hate it when he “eh”s or “wei”s me… Olly if you are reading this stop “eh”ing and “wei”ing me!!! Don’t like it one bit!
Me to Hubs:
Eh/ Wei/ *silent treatment* - when he “eh”s and “wei”s me and when he is in his arrogant macho mode.
Olly –I call him this tenderly when he calle me “bunny”, cause his face is like an oil ridge. I know makes no sense but it’s cute…
OMG I think we cannot grow up and will never grow up… 40 years down the road when all our teeth has fallen, we will still be doing this… calling each other loving names! *shudder*
Popping Pills
Since young my friends always say that I am a supplement freak!! Even during uni days, a good friend always says that she envision my house has a cupboard dedicated for my vitamins and supplements! I DO HAVE A CUPBOARD FULL OF VITAMINS AND SUPPLEMENTS AND DARN PROUD OF IT!! *happy sigh*All my friends are absolutely right about me...they really KNOW me!
My family or more like my mom has been taking a lot of vitamins and supplements since she was young and today at the age of “old” she looks ten years younger that her actual age… and no plastic surgery, no face lifts or any nonsense to her body. That my friend is evidence of the miracle of supplements. Of cause you do not entire rely on it, nor overdose of a certain vitamins… but must know what you are putting into your body.
My daily supplements besides my herbs medication for my “woman” problem, I take Vitamin E, Vitamin C, EPO, Bee Pollen, and Vemma. Sometimes, I will take Royal Jelly, and once a week I will try to make American Ginseng Soup. Oh!! I also take “period” soup or mostly know is “pak cheng”… supposed to strengthen and warm the womb after monthly visits from Aunty Flow.
Unfortunately for hubs ( fortunately for me), I feed him supplements as well… every morning without fail…I swear he will thank me later years in life...ha ha ha…
Moral of the story…”whatever your Mother gives/advice you to do/take, is always good for you”. Serious… it’s true… been there…done that…

Bound For Phuket
Bound for Phuket this weekend with hubs, mom, dad and a bunch of my parent’s friends… It will be our 1st wedding anniversary this Sunday and this short break is like out pre-anniversary trip to our actual wedding anniversary vacation in Hayman Island this November (sounds complicated huh? Well I am a complicated person! Ha ha ha)
Tried finding my flippers and snorkels last night, I have no idea where I have stored it… I know I did not packed it with me when we moved, so it has to be in my old room… I seriously hope that I can use my gear…
I have no expectation for the hotel room and the plans which the “adults” have planned… I bet its some dodgy hotel with icky floor tiles… I mean the guy who is planning refuse to let us know what is going on… I mean what the hell, not like he is paying for us, we are paying for ourselves… the least he can do is let us know what sort of hotel/motel and the plans for the weekend… I am beginning to resent him now… *boiling*
So no expectations… if I expect something I will so be disappointed…

Hotness After 10 Years
I can’t remember the last time the girls went out on alcohol rampage. Oh yes it was in Langkawi for Via and Deb Hen’s Weekend… Last Saturday was more of a replay of when we were single years ago… we would meet up not for a drink but for clubbing.
We shared a bottle of Black Label sitting by the bar… three of us…hotness oozing (ha ha ha…thick skin…yet again) basically here we are 3 of us 10 years down the road… no guys picked us up!!?? DAMN… why is that… we came to a few conclusions… we were full of confidence…thus scaring off all the men… we were too engrossed with exchanging gossips… the guys were all too young or we were too old for them… whatever the reason was…we did not care one bit… I am married and the other two is going to be married soon…
Felt nice doing this with my two best girl friends… I hope 10 years from now we are still up to our nonsense! *grin*

A Conversation With My MIL
A conversation with my mum-in-law in Cantonese translated to English:
MIL: Ah Lynn ah, don’t use the IKEA plastic bags.
Me: Why-lar?
MIL: Very bad quality, it breaks… after a long time not using it, the plastic bags disappears.
Me: *puzzled* * really puzzled* - look at hubs *scratching my head* *still puzzled*
Hubs: Its bio degradable, which is why, it disappears.
MIL: Why would they do that?
Hubs: It easier to dispose, save the environment.
MIL: So difficult for me…aiyah…save what environment-la.
Me: look at hubs *chuckles* * slap head*
Ignorance can be adorable sometimes!

Grocery Shopping Mayhem
I am still not used to groceries shopping back in Malaysia… first of all…there is no Coles!!! Secondly, I am so used to the brands I get back in Melbourne that they don’t sell it here. Thirdly, product placement here is to me a while big pile of mess!
Mom said I will get used to how they place products and the brands here… all I have to do is test it out. I have been testing products back in Aussie-land for 5 years and I am happy with all my brands… (I have brand loyalty!) thank you very much! Just the other day, mom was complaining on how rough my hands have become… thanks to the dishwashing liquid (that I have been testing…bad product) and thanks to no dishwasher. I just told her that the dishwashing liquid I bought it not working out… I need to try another brand. The problem is… everything here is in BIG packaging… how am I suppose to test product if the blardee dishwashing liquid is like 1 liter…my hands would have fallen off from all the testing!

I know I am sounding like a totally spoilt overgrown married woman, but I have my reasons… I want my Paul’s milk, my Coon cheese, my fresh strawberries, my fresh button mushrooms that I pick and pack in the brown bag, my Vegemite, my Morning Fresh dishwashing liquid, my Vileda kitchen cloth, my Helga bread, my fresh juicy bacon; basically I missed shopping at COLES!!! If only they have all that back in Penang without paying a premium price…
Hubs actually took me on a hunting trip for my all time favorite Coon cheddar cheese and fresh bacon. We decided to go to Tesco to look for it… au usual…they don’t carry the brand and the bacon looks pathetic to even be cooked! Under the rain hubs then drove me to Jusco… blardee hell…NONE… they do sell a lot of Japanese/Taiwanese food stuff… Last resort, he drove me all the way to Cold Storage in Gurney…none none none… I swore someone is out to get me… I bought my Coon cheese there about 1 month ago and now its all gone…GONE!!! I NEED MY COON!!! Feeling all frustrated and pissed off…hubs substitute my cheese and bacon craving with red wine… bless him… but that still does not put an end to my hunt on Coon cheese and perfect bacon!
The worst part is not only bout not getting the things I want to buy, but the shoppers around me… I get so irritated when parents let loose of their children with the trolley… these kids will go around like they are in F1 track, I had a few accidents with these kids… and all their parents think is how smart their kids are… blardee hell…control your kids!! If my kids were like that, I would so smack them and asked them to apologies! Kids will be kids after all right? You would not expect a grown adult to be so rude and inconsiderate. I hate it when adults with a ripe age is 50 will just block the whole aisle with their trolley, and when you asked them to excuse you, they will cast you a dirty look like they own the aisle… I mean what the hell!!! The worst kind is aunties checking out what you are buying and make comments to their husband/friends/shopping buddy there and then!! Mind your own blardee business AUNTY!!
My weekly grocery shopping mayhem ends usually at the car park… me and hubs seriously cannot CANNOT stand those shoppers who load their shopping bags in the car and leave the trolley by the side next to another car and expect it to disappear… what are you teaching your children?… I mean how hard is it to push the trolley back to the trolley line allocated? I find it so irresponsible… by simply parking the shopping trolleys, it might roll off and knock someone’s car or worst…knocked into someone… I just feel so sad seeing all this actions by our own people…Sad…not to say I am more superior than them…but I feel by following rules and using your brains to think sensibly, each of us can make this place more bearable and much more orderly.

Hayman Island
Woohoo… our flights and accommodation are confirmed for Hayman Island this November!!! It’s going to be my 1st wedding anniversary treat from hubs which he just found out over the weekend… basically (as usual) I force it onto him… trying to sell him the idea of spending 4 days 5 nights is a luxurious island resort right on the Great Barrier Reef! I told him that;
“I don’t need any diamonds THIS year”
“It’s our 1st wedding ANNIVERSARY!!!”
“It’s like seeing the Great Barrier Reef when it’s still alive…You love all this adventure shit rite…”
“We can make babies there… how cool is it telling your kid you were conceived on the Great Barrier Reef!!!”
“We can get to use or snorkeling gear we bought last year”
I know those are not valid reasons strong enough for him… but hey he agreed and asks me how much we spending… I just told him… a lot… I know he loves me and is going with it… after all he loves travelling and luxurious accommodations… I have rubbed of my snobbishness on him…ha ha ha…MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!

Toilet Call
In my line of work, bankers, fund managers and brokers usually come knocking on the door when the market is good and high and never the right time to go in!! Really annoying actually… but well, they are just doing their job so I got to give them some credit… BUT there are some that won’t give up and act all weird when they get turn down…will be calling non-stop, loitering around outside the office (ok not that bad, I tend to exaggerate sometimes… ok maybe most of the times…) But no means no rite? Not to these people… pretty persistent
Thank God I got my assistant as a barricade… poor girl… always giving all sorts of reasons when we refuse a meeting or calls. She will usually tell these people “Ms. Goh is not in the office today and for the next few weeks, she went to -----(insert place)” But there was one time (in band camp…ha ha ha), she told a particular banker I was in the toilet…and we were all shocked when the banker ask if I were to be long and if I were doing a poo poo!!! We burst out laughing…the banker wanted to hold the line while I do my business!!! Weirdo!!! Talk about desperate!!

Foursome
One of my many overdue photos from Bali. I love this shot of (from left to right) hubs, CK, Debs and me at KuDeTa, Seminyak. Photo courtesy of Patrick from Exes Studio...coolness…very artsy…there are still have many more photos which hubs took… I still have to find the time to sort it out, resize it and post it up… Basically I am too lazy cause all the photos is in the laptop which is at home and I don't use PC at home cause hubs hogs it most of the time… please don’t ask how my brains work… I am just *plop* laaaazyyy… finding reasons to avoid anything when I am LAZY...and when I rather be on the couch watching CSI or cooking or just lazing around like a slob...

Intercepted By A Shit Head
My BMW 3 Series Coupe got intercepted in KL...it was supposed to be bound for Penang ...damn the person who bought it before me!!! DAMN DAMN... now I would have to wait for months while the Mini rot!! Shit HEAD! I should blame the good for nothing sales person.... arrghhh (sheesh, i do sound like a spolit "overgrown" child)
My Obsession with Public Toilets
I think I might be a Bathroom/Toilet freak! Yes we have already established that I am ANAL when it comes to housekeeping, but toilets/bathrooms have to be very very very (must stress) clean, neat and germ free (ok impossible to be germ free).
It really irks me out when I step into dirty public toilets especially in Malaysia… why can’t they keep the floor and the toilet seat dry? There will be shoe marks on the toilet seats, drips of urine/shit/period around the bowl and surrounding floor and use pads/panty liners missing the bins!!! GROSS!! What is really bad is that it is badly maintain, flush not working, no toilet paper, no toilet SEAT!!! I mean how primitive can we get… I wanna know how people use the toilet… how blardee hard is it to pee and poo? WHY WHY WHY??? Must you mess up the toilets!!! Using toilets is very simple; you go in, lock the door, take out your pants and pee/poo then clean up after your business…
The number one worst toilet I have EVER EVER in my life so far used was the one on Mekong Delta in Vietnam… oh my Lord… it was so bad and my bladder was in pain that I had to use it really BAD… the smell of the mixture of urine and poo and some freshener, I almost faint in there…I would not want to start on the cleanliness… no wonder there was this guy pooing under the bridge rather than use the toilet!
So now, every time I use a public toilet (any public toilet), I am always armed with Dettol wipes (to wipe the toilet bowl, toilet handles or whatever I have to touch), disposable toilet seat cover (double protection after wiping the seat with Dettol wipes), lotsa tissue paper to clean up.
Countries with clean public toilets that I have visited and well I am rather impress with are namely Australia, Japan, Singapore; Bangkok was so- so only same as Hong Kong depending on which public toilets you use. The rest well, all I can say bring ya Dettol wipes, and disposable toilet seat cover.
