The "Great Drive"

***SUPER OLD POST***

We survived the "Great Drive" starting from Melbourne - Lakes Entrance - Sydney - Blue Montains - Melbourne!! ANd we gnt home in one piece!

After travelling for more than 2000plus kms and in total of more than 30 hours, I am actually glad that hubs convinced me to drive instead of fly. It was actually really fun!!

Our drive from Melbourne to Lakes Entrance was the start of our "adventure" we headed south to East Gippsland, Victoria where one of the most fab views greet us. A very quiant and quiet water front town with most of the visitors there for deep sea fishing at the Tasman Sea and for some r & r. We only stayed a night ( but will definately go back for some fishing and boating!)

The next morning we took a slow drive along the coastal through many many countless towns with sme very weird questionable names ( hubs and me entertained ourselves by pronouncing the names of towns, creeks, river, valleys, hills....trust me...if you come from a background with diverse launguage it WOULD be funny!!!!) All along the drive hubs was dying to spot a 'garoo (kangaroo) but mostly we saw roadkills!! and we manage to spot a small wallaby. But the worse was when we saw the "black Saturday"bush fire that seriously damage the forests!

After 12 hours we finally reached Sydney! At this point I was seriously dying (not to see a 'garoo) for a hot shower, and a bed!! After checking in to Westin and had a quick dinner I collapse into their infamous "Heavenly Bed" Wah seriousloh...it was seriously heavenly...just like our bed back in Penang! *bliss* Basically I passed out!

We spend 3 days in Sydney doing the normal tourisy things...the Opera House, the Harbour Bridge, The Rocks, Bondi ( which was seriously over rated!) Manly.... after a while, I just got bored but we did have lotsa fun driving around and basiclly ate a lot!

Our last leg of the trip was the great Blue Mountains! We drove to the town of Katoomba and stayed at a very small boutique hotel which had the greatest view! Our verandah opens up to a small english garden which overlook the famous Three Sisters, Mt Solitory and the Valley! Me and hubs just spend our time sitting at our verandah sipping wine and soaking in the views when we are not exploring the forest! ( yes I did it! I actually went bushwalking/trekking! and my legs hurts like ^&*%^$%&!)

By the end of our trip the 12 hour drive home which was really long ( felt like days! )and both of us were happy and exhausted!

To me personally, Sydney was ok only... just like any other cities...nothing much to rave about, but the Blue Mountains did wowed me!

Would I do it all over again?! YES! But not to Sydney la...we are already planning to drive west to Adeaide and to Port Lincoln to visit my foster family.
